Whi le holdi n9 the installer shaft with the w rench, t urn
the upper nut gradually unt il the groove in insta lier
attachment B aligns with the lower end of the steer'ing
head. This will allow you to install th e lower beani ng
outer race .
Temporari ly install the st eering stem nut onto the
stem to prevent the threads from being damagerl
when removi ng the lower bearing inner race fro m t he
stem.
Remove the lower bea ring inner race with a chisel or
equivalent tool, being careful not to damage the stem.
Rem ove the dust sea l.
Apply grease to a new dust seal lips and install it over
the steering ste m.
Install a new lower beari ng inner race using the spe-
cia l t ool and a hydraulic press.
