Valve Clearance - Honda 1998 VT750C Service Manual

VALVE CLEARANCE
INSPECTION
NOTE:
Inspect and adjust the valve clearance while the
engine is cold (below 35°C/95° F)
Remove the cylinder head covers (page 10-5).
Remove the crankshaft hole cap and timing hole cap.
MAINTENANCE
FRONT CYLINDER HEAD
Adjust the front
Rotate the flywheel counterclockwise to align the
cylinder valves first.
"FT" mark with the index notch on the left crankcase
cover.
Make sure the piston is at TDC (Top Dead Center)
on the compression stroke. The cam lobes will be
facing down.

REAR CYLINDER HEAD
Rotate the flywheel counterclockwise to align the
"RT" mark with the index notch on the left crankcase
cover.
Make sure the piston is at TDC (Top Dead Center)
on the compression stroke. The cam lobes will be
facing down.
Inspect the clearance of all three valves by inserting
a feeler gauge between the adjusting screw and the
valve.
