PARTICULAR
POINTS.
Dismantling.
In order to remove the outer races
of
the arm bearings from the bracket, slightly heat the bracket around the housing
of
the races and drive out.
Do not lose the adjusting
washers
of
the steering coupling lever on the pivot.
Assembly
a) Do not fit the lower cup
of
the upper ball by means of a hammer or a press, this may damage the pivot, use the fixture
1857-T
(see PI. 63,jig.
2).
c) Determine
the thickness of the adjusting
washers of t%e steering lever on the pivot (see OP. ID 413-o).
d) Detcrnire
the thickness of the adjusting
uashers of the flange of the lower ball joint
(feeler gauge), the clearance of the ball joint should bd
0' IO mm., after tightcnirg
thejange
to 36 ft.lbs. (5 m.kg.). (D o not exceed this tightening
torsion.)
e) Tighten
the wheel nut to 288 ft.lbs. (40 m.kg.).
a) Slightly
heat the bracket around
the bearings of the upper arm with a blowpipe
in order to fit the outer bearing races. (The bearings of
the lozeer arm uill
be fitted after the adjustment
of the castor angle).
Tighten
the rear nut of the upper
arm
to 65 ft.lbs. (9 m.kg.) and
loosen the nut by 15" to 30 , then turn down the metal of the nut into the
groove
in the
arm.
f) Adjust
the castor angle (see paragraph
IO-f), fit the outer cups of the lower arm bearings and tighten the
rear
nut
(proceed as indicated fat
the upper arm, see paragraph
7).

the
driveshaft
and
pivot
assembly
from
the
arms
as
follows:

Disconnect
the
lower
ball
first
and
then
the
upper
ball
(extractor
and
pressure
pad

Pl.

Remove
the
rubber

and
metal

cups.
To
remove
the
arms:

Extract
the
steel
cap
from
the
lower
arm,
using
a screwdriver.

With
a chisel,
raise
the
metal
tongue
locking
the
nuts

Remove
the
nuts
