Phenomenon
Image Horizontal Temperature
Difference
Output a FLAT pattern (1.5D
recommended) and measure the density
at the x locations below (3 locations). A
temperature difference greater than
0.15D (estimate) is abnormal
Cannot obtain density linearity
(density malfunction)
1. No malfunction in the image density,
but differences occur in measured
density values
2. Density fluctuation occurring within
the field, and density fluctuation is
occurring while the film is transported
in the machine
3. Even if calibration is performed,
differences in density linearity are
repeated
4. Density fluctuation where a
characteristic curve follows a steady
value parallel translation
5. Density malfunction accompanied by
tone differences
6. Large increase in density during
continued processing

Cause
1. Insufficient adjustment of shading
correction at shipment
2. Film has its own density distribution
3. Dirty optical parts
4. Heat process unit temperature not
uniform, temperature setting fault
1. Malfunction in measuring
densitometer
2. Change in film sensitivity
3. LUT malfunction: LUT setting error
4. Exposure amount malfunction for
optical system
5. Developing temperature malfunction
6. Insufficient cooling, developing
temperature malfunction
Chapter 17 Troubleshooting
Solution
Even if the film is the cause, the
horizontal density difference for films in
the same pack can be suppressed by
performing shading correction.
1. Check by re-measuring using a
calibrated densitometer.
2. Check the guarantee period of the
film, and replace the film if it is old.
3. Check and correct the LUT setting
value.
4. Perform shading correction and pitch
unevenness correction.
5. Check the HPRO temperature
settings.
6. Check the operation of the cooling
section fan and the HPRO
temperature settings.
