set user
Configures a user profile in the local database on the WSS for a user with a password.
(To configure a user profile in RADIUS, see the documentation for your RADIUS server.)
Syntax
set user username password [encrypted] string
username
encrypted
password string
Defaults None.
Access Enabled.
Usage The show config command shows the encrypted option with this command, even when
you omit the option. The encrypted option appears in the configuration because WSS Software
automatically encrypts the password when you create the user (unless you use the encrypted option
when you enter the password).
Although WSS Software allows you to configure a user password for the special "last-resort" guest user, the
password has no effect. Last-resort users can never access a WSS in administrative mode and never require a
password.
The only valid username of the form last-resort-* is last-resort-wired. The last-resort-wired user allows last-
resort access on a wired authentication port.
Examples The following command creates a user profile for user Nin in the local database, and
assigns the password goody:
WSS# set user Nin password goody
success: User Nin created
The following command assigns the password chey3nne to the admin user:
WSS# set user admin password chey3nne
success: User admin created
NN47250-100 (Version 02.51)
Username of a user with a password.
Indicates that the password string you entered is already in its
encrypted form. If you use this option, WSS Software does not
encrypt the displayed form of the password string, and instead
displays the string exactly as you entered it. If you omit this
option, WSS Software does encrypt the displayed form of the
string.
Password of up to 32 alphanumeric characters, with no spaces.
