CONFIGURATION FILES
For the specific parameters you can set in the configuration files for setting 802.1x support, see
Appendix A, the section,
CONFIGURING THE 802.1X PROTOCOL USING THE IP PHONE UI
Use the following procedure to configure the 802.1x Protocol on your phone using the IP Phone
UI.
Note: If configuring 802.1x using the IP Phone UI, the certificates and private keys must
already be configured and stored on the phone. Use the configuration files or the Mitel
Web UI to load certificates and private keys
IP PHONE UI
For the 6863i/6865i
1. Press on the phone to enter the Options List.
2. Select Administrator Menu.
3. Select Network Settings->Ethernet & VLAN->802.1x Settings.
4. Select 802.1x Settings.
5. Select 802.1x Mode.
6. Select EAP-MD5 to configure the phone to use MD5 authentication;
or
Select EAP-TLS to configure the phone to use TLS authentication.
Note: The 802.1x Protocol is disabled by default. If you select EAP-TLS
authentication, you must use the configuration files or the Mitel Web UI to configure
the certificates and private key for the phone.
7. Press Set.
8. To configure MD5, select EAP-MD5 Settings.
9. Select Identity.
10. Enter the identity or username used for authenticating the phone.
11. Press Set.
12. Enter the password used for authenticating the phone.
13. Press Set.
