Test Procedure 28 - Dynamic Braking Solenoid Large Post Continuity
1. Turn the key switch to OFF and place the forward and reverse switch in NEUTRAL. Leave the batteries
connected and leave the Z plug connected to the controller.
2. Disconnect the 6 gauge green wire and 6 gauge white wire from one of the large posts on the dynamic
braking solenoid. To prevent the possibility of shorting against another part of the vehicle, cover the ter-
minals on the ends of the disconnected wires with electrical tape.
3. Place the black (-) probe of a multimeter, set to ohms (Ω), on one large post of the dynamic braking
solenoid and place the red (+) probe on the other large post (Figure 21-62). Turn the key switch to ON;
the reading should be no continuity. If the reading is incorrect, replace the solenoid.
4. With the key switch ON and the forward and reverse rocker switch in FORWARD, slowly depress the
accelerator pedal until the accelerator limit switch is activated. The dynamic braking solenoid should
click, and the reading should be continuity.
5. If the reading is incorrect, replace the dynamic braking solenoid.
6. Connect the 6 gauge green wire to the energy displacement module.

• DO NOT TOUCH THE ENERGY DISPLACEMENT MODULE; IT MAY BE EXTREMELY HOT. A
HOT ENERGY DISPLACEMENT MODULE COULD CAUSE SEVERE BURNS.

POT CALIBRATION: SET MODE SWITCH TO "POT".
CHECK INTERNAL 4.30±.03 VOLT SIGNAL BY PRESSING "TEST" BUTTON.
CONNECT TEST SOCKET TO POT PLUG, CONNECT GREEN LEAD TO GREEN/
WHITE POT LIMIT SWITCH LEAD, CONNECT BLUE LEAD TO BATTERY
POSITIVE. ILLUMINATION OF THE L.E.D. INDICATES A CLOSED
PEDAL LIMIT SWITCH, READ THE POTENTIOMETER SET VOLTAGE FROM THE
L.C.D. DISPLAY. SEE SERVICE MANUAL FOR ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE.
SPEED SENSOR TEST: SET MODE SWITCH TO "SSAM", CONNECT TEST
SOCKET TO MOTOR SPEED SENSOR PLUG, ROTATE MOTOR. L.E.D. SHOULD
PULSE ON AND OFF INDICATING SPEED SENSOR IS FUNCTIONAL.
