IPX Commands
Basic IPX Command Overview
The switch provides support for the IPX, IPX/RIP, and IPX/SAP protocols. The switch dynamically
builds and maintains an IPX routing table and an IPX service table.
The routing software and hardware routes IPX traffic between IPX router interfaces. A router interface
is simply a VLAN that has an IPX network identifier (NetID) and IPX encapsulation type assigned to it.
As you create VLANs with different IPX NetIDs the switch automatically routes between them. Both
the VLAN switching and IPX routing function occur within the switch.
NOTE
A VLAN can be configured with either an IPX NetID or an IP address. A VLAN cannot be configured for
both IPX and IP routing simultaneously.
This chapter describes the IPX commands.
