Reference Planes

Use the Reference Plane tool to draw reference planes to use as a guideline in your design. Reference planes
are an integral part of family creation. For detailed information about creating families, see
Guide
on page 418. Reference planes appear in each new plan view that you create for a project. See

Adding Reference Planes

1 Click Home tab
2 If you selected Draw Reference Plane, do the following:

a Place the cursor in the drawing area.
b Draw the reference planes by dragging the cursor.
c When you finish the plane (designated by a green, dashed line), click to end the line.
a On the Options Bar, specify an offset, if desired.
b Select the Lock option to lock the reference plane to the line or edge.
c Move the cursor near the line or edge to which you want to place the reference plane and
click.
