exterior The outside of a building, or the outside face of a surface.
external reference An AutoCAD mechanism that allows the architect to reference other drawing files in an
AutoCAD-based project. Also referred to as an xref.

extrusion A method of defining 3D geometry for a building model.
You begin a solid extrusion by sketching 2D shapes on a plane. Revit Architecture then extrudes the sketch
between a start point and an endpoint. See
