Loading and Removing Printer
Fonts
The Windows 3.1 Driver disk includes a font downloader
(WINDOWN.EXE). This program can download fonts to the
controller's memory or to an internal hard drive. Once a font is
downloaded you can use it as a resident font within your
applications.
Fonts downloaded to an internal hard disk survive a power cycle.
Fonts downloaded to controller memory only last through the current
power cycle.
Caution:
Downloaded PostScript fonts use the controller's virtual
memory. If a document generates a PostScript error after
the fonts have been downloaded, it may be due to
insufficient memory. In this case, it may be necessary to
download the font to an additional internal hard disk, to
remove unused fonts from RAM, or to add RAM to the
controller.
Note:
Windows 95 users:
The font downloader (WINDOWN.EXE), found on the Windows 3.1
Driver disk, may be run from Windows 95 as a stand alone
application.
To remove all downloaded fonts from the controller memory, turn
the controller off and then back on. Fonts stored in the controller
memory only last for the current power cycle.
To remove specific fonts from a SCSI disk, use the PSdown.exe
which comes with your fonts. See the PSdown.exe documentation
for details.
To remove all fonts from a SCSI disk, you can reinitialize the SCSI
disk by downloading the INITDSK.PS file. See "Initializing a Hard
Disk with the PC" in chapter 2 for details.
