The Media Width Menu
The Media Width Menu, PRINTER1:MEDIAWI, describes the
width of the media loaded in the designated printer. The controller
uses this information to determine the most appropriate printer for
each print job. Valid page widths range from 4" (10 cm) to 60" (127
cm). The factory default is 36" (92 cm).
The Matte Menu
The Matte menu, PRINTER1:MATTE, allows you to designate the
horizontal and vertical space between multiple copies of a print job.
Valid matte sizes range from 0" to 2" ( 0 to 55 mm). The factory
default setting is 1.0".
The Screen Menu
The Screen menu, PRINT:SCREEN, allows you to select different
screening and error diffusion techniques. The Spot option uses a
clustered dot technique. X-Screen uses a stochastic, dispersed-dot
technique. The diffuse options implement different error diffusion
algorithm filters: diffuse 1 uses the Floyd and Steinberg Filter,
diffuse 2 uses the Jarvis, Judice, and Ninke Filter, and diffuse 3 uses
the Stucki Filter. See "Screening" in chapter 7 for more information.
For a detailed discussion of the error diffusion algorithms, see R.
Ulichney's Digital Halftoning (Cambridge, MIT Press, 1987). The
factory default is X-SCREEN.
