Introduction

XANTÉ's color management advances help ensure precise,
consistent, and predictable colors from your inkjet printer every time
you print. This technology allows you to calibrate multiple printers
so that they produce the same accurate, repeatable colors.
XANTÉ's multifaceted approach to digital desktop color
management uses ICC profiles, Color Rendering Dictionaries
(CRDs), color transfer curves, precision printer linearization, and
monitor calibration.
This chapter covers ICC Profiles, CRDs and XANTÉ's Command
Center for use of default and custom transfer curves to help ensure
color fidelity across different devices and media. It describes
linearization, its importance, and how to accomplish it using
XANTÉ's Linearizer in conjunction with a popular color
measurement device. Monitor calibration using the Colortron II is
discussed, and valuable Photoshop tips for "tweaking" images for a
polished, professional output are provided. There are also tips on
where to go for custom profile creation should you wish to
experiment with other media or inks.

ICC Profiles

ICC profiles are used by applications and drivers that support
Apple's ColorSync 2.0 and Microsoft Windows 95's ICM (Image
Color Management) for system level, device independent color
management. These operating systems provide an open architecture
and a powerful method to exchange and match color information
between input devices, monitor, printers, and applications. An ICC
profile contains information about a device's color reproduction
capabilities.
