8.5 TRACTION DRIVE

SYMPTOM
Warning Alarm Sounds And
Transmission Oil Light Is On.
Wheels Lack Pulling Ability On A
Grade Or Pulling Out Of A Ditch.
Both Wheels Will Not Pull In
Forward Or Reverse.
One Wheel Does Not Pull In
Forward Or Reverse.

TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
Low hydraulic oil level.
Low hydraulic pressure.
Foreign material shorting sender.
Short in alarm wiring.
Faulty sender.
Insufficient torque at drive wheels.
Loose or worn controls.
Air in system.
Brakes binding or not releasing fully. Check pressure (min. 200 psi
Internal pump or motor damage.
Relief valve in tandem pump dirty or
damaged.
Low oil level.
Power hubs disengaged.
Damaged hydraulic lines preventing
proper oil flow.
Steering controls worn or defective.
Speed-range control not working.
Pump arms have broken shaft or
loose hardware.
Brakes binding or not releasing fully. Check pressure (min. 200 psi
Charge pressure relief valve
misadjusted or damaged.
Failed pump or motor.
One final drive disengaged.
Pump arm or shaft are broken.
Steering controls worn or defective.

SOLUTION
Stop engine and add oil to
hydraulic system.
Contact MacDon dealer.
Move speed-range control to
field position and reduce ground
speed.
Check controls.
Use proper oil.
Check oil level, and leaks.
Check oil filters.

Replace relief valve.
Check oil reservoir level.
Engage power hubs.
Replace damaged lines.
Check GSL and steering for
loose, worn or dam-aged ball
joints and connecting rods.
