◆ The throttle valve module -J338- and throttle valve potenti-
ometer -G69- are installed in one common housing.
◆ Only gold-plated contacts may be used when repairing con-
tacts in connector of throttle valve module -J338-.
– Connect vehicle diagnostic tester, and select engine control

unit.
– Select diagnosis function "015-Access permissions".
– Perform final control diagnosis, and activate throttle valve

module -J338-
● The engine must be switched off when the throttle valve
module is activated.
– Proceed with final control diagnosis until completed.
– Exit diagnosis function.
– Switch off ignition.
If the engine did not stop when the throttle valve module was
activated:
– Pull 5-pin connector -4- off throttle valve module.
Checking voltage supply
– Switch on ignition.
– Connect multimeter to following connector contacts and en-
gine earth using test leads from -V.A.G 1594-.
◆ Contact 1 + engine earth
◆ Contact 1 + contact 3
● Specification: at least 4.8... 5.2 V
– Switch off ignition.
– Using adapter cable -V.A.G 1598/39-1-, connect test box
-V.A.G 1598/42- to wiring harness of control unit
The engine control unit is not connected by this action.
