Loading and Removing the Disposable Tubing Set and Other Common Operations

Setting up the Spectra System

Plug in the Spectra system.

Turn the power switch to the on position.
The system performs a short self-check to ensure the power supplies
are operating at the correct voltages:
Power up tests in progress.

A screen similar to one of the following with the correct Spectra
version appears:
COBE Spectra (Version 4.7 Software).
Press CONTINUE to load tubing set.
COBE Spectra (Version 5.1 LRS Software).
Press CONTINUE to load tubing set.
COBE Spectra (Version 6.1 PBSC Software)
Press CONTINUE to load tubing set.
COBE Spectra (Version 7.0 LRS Turbo).
Press CONTINUE to load tubing set.

Verify the following:
• Yellow Warning LED illuminates
• Pause LED flashes
• Cartridge clamps are in the unload position

Removing and Installing the Filler
Caution: Before installing a filler or loading a disposable tubing
set, inspect the filler and visible interior of the centrifuge chamber
for fluid spills or structural damage. Ensure the metal band around
the perimeter of the filler is centered and secure.
Table 4-1 shows the filler to use for each apheresis procedure. See the
procedural guides, or Figure 2-6 on page 2-17 for illustrations of the
fillers.
