Clean the injection port of the sampling site coupler with alcohol,
then insert the metal spike of the return saline line into the injection
port.
Caution: Once fluid enters the disposable tubing set, DO
NOT disturb sensors in pressure sensor housings, or the
centrifuge pressure sensor. This prevents transducers from
accurately monitoring pressures.

Open the access and return saline line roller clamps:
Open access and return saline lines.
Press CONTINUE to prime.
Press CONTINUE.

The Spectra system primes the disposable tubing set according to
the standard prime procedure:
Prime access, return connections
(and SpectraTHERM line).
If ethylene oxide residuals are a concern, continue with Step 6.
– or –
If ethylene oxide residuals are not a concern, continue Prime mode
according to the instructions for the apheresis procedure. You are
now finished with the Single-Pass Prime procedure.

When Prime mode is complete, press PAUSE. Leave the system in
pause for at least 15 minutes to allow ethylene oxide residuals to
diffuse from the disposable tubing set into the saline.

If you want to prime the set again, press CHANGE MODE. The
following screen appears:
1=Load Set, 2=Prime, 3=Run, 4=Rinseback,
5=Unload Set, 6=Diagnostics.
Press 2.

The following screen appears:
Re-prime tubing set, (YES/NO)?
Press YES.

If you want to prime the set for a third time, repeat steps 7 and 8.
You must attach a new saline bag and transfer pack to the access and
return saline lines for a third prime.
Caution: The volume capacity of the disposable tubing set
waste bag limits the number of times you can prime a
disposable tubing set. Prime the Single-Needle ELP and LRS
disposable tubing sets a maximum of two times, and the
Dual-Needle ELP, LRS, AutoPBSC, TPE, RBCX, WBC and
Functionally Closed WBC disposable tubing sets a maximum
of three times.

Once you complete priming the set, attach the access and return
saline lines to a full bag of 0.9% NaCl to provide fluids during the
procedure.

Continue according to the instructions for completing the apheresis
procedure.
