Adjust the xenon lamp's position.
There are three adjustments to opti-
mize the lamp position:

Move the excitation monochromator to 350 nm, and the emission
monochromator to 397 nm.
Set the slits to 5-nm bandpass.
Open the excitation shutter and emission shutter.
Set the integration time to 0.5 s.

Slowly work each adjustment
to optimize the signal.
At maximum signal (>
400 000 cps, depending upon
the spectrometer), the lamp is
optimized.
Remove the Allen keys.
