26.6 Installation Test
This section describes the basic installation test for SR-MGC(S) including checks for lamp indications and sys-
tem messages.

Lamp indications
Check lamps to make sure that the SR-MGC(S) is working properly.
For details on lamps, see Specifications.
(2)
Basic installation test
Check the following to make sure that the SR-MGC(S) is working properly.
STEP 1: Is the PWR lamp turned ON?
- No.
• Is the power cable firmly connected?
• Is the power switch on?
• Is the power supplied?
- Yes.
Move on to the next step.
STEP 2: Is the LINK lamp of the Ether1 connector turned ON?
- No.
• Check if the MGC does not output a system message: 10-F, MGC - SR-MGC Network Failure.
• Is the SR-MGC(S) connected to a network device such as a switching hub or a router? Is the
power of the network device turned on?
• Do you use a straight-through cable?
• Is not the cable broken? Test the conduction.
If none of the above helps you to solve the problem, try another LAN cable, and check the opera-
tions of the network devices.
- Yes.
Indicates that the SR-MGC(S) has established a connection and a link to your LAN.
Move on to the next step.
STEP 3: How is the state of the 100M lamp of the Ether1 connector?
- Lighting in green.
• The SR-MGC(S) connects to a network with transmitting speed of 100Mbps.
- Not lighting.
• The SR-MGC(S) connects to a network with transmitting speed of 10Mbps.
• If you expected transmitting speed of 100Mbps, check the connected network device and the
cable between them.
STEP 4: Is the Online lamp turned ON?
- No.
