26.1 General
IP terminals in offices of an enterprise normally work under control of a Telephony Server in a main office: the
Telephony Server can maintain all terminals' operations via an IP network, even if some of them are in other
offices. It is one of flagship features of our Telephony Server. But what will happen if a failure occurs on the
network or Telephony Server? The Telephony Server will lose control of the terminals in its (main) office as
well as ones in other offices depending on the failure - it is a big problem. That's when an SR-MGC(S) really
comes into play: Terminals re-register to an SR-MGC(S), which is arranged in advance, so that they can keep
working under control of the SR-MGC(S). While the SR-MGC(S) operates, the SR-MGC(S) is checking if the
Telephony Server recovers from a network failure or something. If detecting the recover, terminals under con-
trol of the SR-MGC(S) register back to, and work under control of the Telephony Server; the SR-MGC(S)
switches its operation to standby in case of another failure on the Telephony Server.
For Service Conditions for SR-MGC(S), refer to "Survivable Remote MGC [S-141]" of Data Program-
Note:
ming Manual - Business. For Service Conditions peculiar to SR-MGC(S) with Location Diversity, refer
to "Location Diversity [L-55]" of Data Programming Manual - Business.
The following is a configuration example.
e.g. A Telephony Server in a head office normally controls IP stations in branch offices. Suppose that a failure
occurs on a network or a network device, and which causes the Telephony Server to lose control of stations
in branch office (BO) 1; an SR-MGC(S) in BO1 starts controlling the stations.
