8-2 Troubleshooting
This section describes how to temporarily remedy hardware-related trouble.
Check the items below before sending the hardware for repair.
Error type
Phenomenon
Startup error
Device restarts during
operation.
Display error
The main display remains
on "- - - - - -."
The main display
becomes "SYSERR."
Measurement
Abnormal distances are
error
displayed in areas clearly
outside the measuring
range.
The measured values
fluctuate.

Troubleshooting
Cause
The power supply device is not
connected correctly.
The power supply capacity is
insufficient.
The target to measure is not in the
measuring range.
TIMING input is not ON.
The trigger level is not
appropriately set for self-trigger.
Refer to the "The measured values fluctuate." and "The logical beam does
not come out of the Sensor Head." items below.
A system error has occurred.
Such phenomena are characteristic
of the sensor.
The average count is not set
correctly.
The target to measure or the
Sensor Head is vibrating.
The fiber cable end surface or the
lens surface of the Sensor Head is
dirty.
The connection between the
Sensor Head and the Sensor
Controller or the connection with
the extension fiber cable is not
normal.
The fiber cable is disconnected.
The Sensor Head lens is broken.
Water and/or oil droplets are
attached.
Countermeasure
Check if the power supply device
conforms to the power supply
specifications.
Set the target to measure in the
measuring range.
Turn the TIMING input ON.
Set the self-trigger level to an
appropriate value.
Identify the cause of the error based
on the error code displayed on the
sub-display and take an appropriate
action.
• Check the target to measure and
the measuring distance.
• Lowering the exposure time set-
ting value may improve the situa-
tion.
Set the average count correctly.
Implement a vibration-control
countermeasure.
Clean the surface.
Check the fiber cable connections.
Replace the fiber cable.
The Sensor Head needs to be
repaired.
Please contact an OMRON branch or
sales office.
For Sensor Head repair, return as a
set with the Calibration ROM.
Perform air purging and so forth to
remove the droplets.
