Setting up the Active Format

Form Length

Top Print Ref

5180 User's Manual
The active format can be set up using the following two methods:
From the Setup menu, under Modify Format menu, the Form
Length, Top Print Ref, etc may be set.
ANSI Emulation - use the ESC[p1;p2;p3r escape sequence to set
the active form length, top print ref, etc. (See the Programmer's
Manual for information on escape sequences.)
See "Formats" for additional information.
Form length is set using the current LPI (lines per inch) value. If the
form length is set to 66 lines while the LPI is set at 6, the length will
be 11 inches. After the form length has been set up, a LPI change will
not change the form length. This is useful for matching odd size
forms and Lines Per Inch settings. For example, 3-1/3 inch form
length and 8 LPI print spacing.
The minimum form length is .33 inch (2 lines at 6 LPI) and the
maximum length is 22 inches (132 lines at 6 LPI).
Setting a Top Print Ref (top print reference) changes the effective first
print position relative to the perforation. Setting a top print ref
effectively changes the physical Top of Form paper position and is a
one time physical offset of the paper that is executed at the Set TOF
function. The top print ref (top print reference) is set using the
currently set LPI value. If the offset distance is set to 6 lines while the
LPI is set to 6, printing will start on line 7. Lines 1- 6 (1 inch) will be
skipped. After the form has been set up, a LPI change will not alter
the length of the offset distance.
