Commands for Configuring Slots and Ports on a Switch

show slot

show slot <slot number>
Description
Displays slot-specific information.
For ARM, ATM, MPLS, PoS, and WAN modules. Displays information that includes data about the
software images loaded on the module, as well as status information on the module's processors.
For stacked switches. Displays information about a Summit switch configured in a stack. Some of the
fields in the command output provide clues to stack related problems.

slot number
Specifies a slot on a modular switch or a location in a stack.

The
command displays the following information:
show slot

Description
The state of the slot as it comes up.
• Initialization—The first state of the switch. Hardware and data structures
are initialized in this state.
• Diag—This state applies mostly to remote switches, which are placed in
this state until diagnostics are run and are available through RPC. Local
switches receive diagnostic information immediately and are only in this
state briefly.
• Mismatch—The switch was not allowed to join the stack because of the
corresponding member supports certain features that are not compatible
with the licensing of the manager and the other stack members.
• Operational—The switch is operating and has joined a stack of switches.
• Disable—The switch is disabled.
• Power Down
Modules only:
The serial number of the module.
The Summit model of the switch.
Stacked Switches only:
Indicates whether the switch is a stack manager (master) or a member
(slave).
Stacked Switches only:
ExtremeWare version of the primary software image.
