Command Reference Overview
Introduction
This guide provides details of the command syntax for all ExtremeWare commands as of ExtremeWare
version 7.4.0.
NOTE
ExtremeWare 7.4.0 supports the "i" series platforms, including the BlackDiamond, Alpine, and Summit
"i" series switches. In addition, ExtremeWare supports the "e" series platforms, including the Summit
200, Summit 300, and Summit 400 series switches. Certain commands are available only on selected
platforms; these restrictions are noted in the command description.
This guide does not provide feature descriptions, explanations of the technologies, or configuration
examples. For information about the various features and technologies supported by Extreme Networks
switches, see the installation and user guides for your product. This guide does not replace the
installation and user guides; this guide supplements the installation and user guides.
Audience
This guide is intended for use by network administrators who are responsible for installing and setting
up network equipment. It assumes a basic working knowledge of the following:
• Local area networks (LANs)
• Ethernet concepts
• Ethernet switching and bridging concepts
• Routing concepts
• Internet Protocol (IP) concepts
• Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) concepts
• Border Gateway Protocol (BGP-4) concepts (BGP is supported only on the "i" series platforms.)
• IP Multicast concepts
• Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol (DVMRP) concepts
