configure snmp sysName
configure snmp sysname <alphanumeric string>
Description
Configures the name of the switch.
Syntax Description
alphanumeric string Specifies a device name.
Default
The default is the model name of the device (for example, ).
sysname Summit1
Usage Guidelines
You can use this command to change the name of the switch. A maximum of 32 characters is allowed.
The appears in the switch prompt.
sysname
To view the name of the system listed on the switch, use the command. The
show switch show switch
command displays switch statistics including the name of the system.
To restore defaults to all SNMP-related entries, including the SNMP parameters modified using the
command, use the
configure snmp sysname <alphanumeric string> unconfigure management
command.

The following command names the switch:
configure snmp sysname engineeringlab
