Example
The following example configures the speed operation of Ethernet g5 to force 100-Mbps operation.
Console(config)# interface ethernet g5
Console(config-if)# speed 100

duplex

The duplex interface configuration command configures the full/half duplex operation of a given
Ethernet interface when not using auto-negotiation. To restore the default, use the no form of this
command.
Syntax
duplex {half | full}
no duplex
• half—Force half-duplex operation
• full—Force full-duplex operation
Default Configuration
The interface is set to full duplex.
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (Ethernet, Out-of-Band Ethernet) mode
User Guidelines
Before attempting to force a particular duplex mode on the port operating at 10/100 Mbps,
disable the auto-negotiation on that port.
Half duplex mode can be set only for ports operating at 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps.
