negotiation

The negotiation interface configuration command enables auto-negotiation operation for the
speed and duplex parameters of a given interface. To disable negotiation, use the no form of this
command.
Syntax
negotiation [capability1 [capability2...capability5]]
no negotiation
capabilities—Port capabilities to be advertised.
(Possible values: 10h, 10f, 100h, 100f and 1000f)
Default Configuration
auto-negotiation with all capabilities
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (Ethernet, port-channel, Out-of-Band Ethernet) mode
User Guidelines
Turning off auto-negotiation on an aggregate link may, under some circumstances, make it
non-operational. If the other side has auto-negotiation turned on, it may re-synchronize all
members of the aggregated link to half-duplex operation, and may, as per the standards, set
them all inactive.
Example
The following example enables autonegotiation with all capabilities on g5.
Console(config)# interface ethernet g5
Console(config-if)# negotiation

flowcontrol

The flowcontrol interface configuration command configures the Flow Control on a given
interface. To restore the default, use the no form of this command.
Syntax
flowcontrol {auto | on | off}
no flowcontrol
auto—Enables auto-negotiation of Flow Control.
on—Enables Flow Control.
