7. PTT System

1) Inspection of PTT Unit Operation

1. Tilt up and down outboard motor several times to check
that unit operates smoothly in full range. Check PTT fluid
quantity if necessary. Refer to "Inspection of PTT Fluid
Quantity".
Check that PTT motor produces noise of normal
revolution.
2. Fully tilt up outboard motor, lock with tilt stopper 1, and
check that stopper 1 lock mechanism functions normally.
2) Inspection of PTT Fluid Quantity
Be sure to lock outboard motor with tilt
stopper after tilting up. Danger! Outboard
motor may come down if hydraulic pressure
of PTT unit reduces accidentally.
1. Fully tilt up outboard motor and lock with tilt stopper 1.
2. Remove cap 2 and check PTT fluid quantity.
Be sure to remove the cap when outboard
motor is in full tilt up position. Removal of
the cap in other than full tilt up position
may cause the fluid to blast out.
Quantity of PTT fluid is normal when some
fluid spills out of cap hole when cap is
removed.
