13) Removing PTT Unit/Gas Shock Absorber
1.
Fully tilt up outboard motor and lock with tilt stopper 1.
Be sure to lock outboard motor with tilt
stopper after tilting up. Leaving outboard
m o t o r w i t h o u t l o c k i n g m a y l e a d t o
accidental descent due to reduction of PTT
hydraulic pressure.
• If PTT unit will not operate, open manual valve
and lift up outboard motor with hands.
• When manual valve is opened, be sure to
tighten it with specified torque after tilting up
outboard motor.
Manual Valve :
1.8 N·m ( 1.3 lb·ft ) [ 0.18 kgf·m ]

Remove thrust rod 2.
3.
Remove bolt 3 and remove cylinder pin (upper) 4.
4.
Perform tilt down operation to retract tilt rod a little.
5.
Disconnect PTT motor leads from PTT solenoid. (PTT
model)
6.
Remove screw 5 and clamps 6, and pull out PTT motor
leads. (PTT model)
7.
Remove bolt 8 and ground lead 9 from bottom of PTT unit
7 / gas shock absorber 0.
8.
Remove "C" ring q, and then cylinder pin (lower) w.
Hold PTT unit or gas shock absorber with a
hand, and use another hand to pull out cylinder
pin (lower) and remove PTT unit rearward.
9.
Remove PTT unit 7 or gas shock absorber 0.
10.
Remove bushings r, t, y and u.
