Chapter 9 - Advanced Setup and Maintenance
Figure 9-2. Least Cost Routing Table form in Polycom ReadiManager LX100
In determining the least-cost route for a requested call, Polycom ReadiManager LX100
compares the dial string for a particular call to the dial strings in LCR tables, to see if
there is a match. The dial string can match at the country code, area code. or prefix
level. Frequently, the more numbers that can be stripped from a dial string, the more
the cost can be reduced. The highest matching entry (the entry with the most levels)
between the LCR table and the dial string of the requested call is used to determine the
least-cost route.
If a call request was to dial the following "14086162000", then the highest matching
entry in the LCR table shown in Table 9-1 would be 1408, so the call would be made
using the string 6162000.
When a video network includes multiple gateways, Polycom ReadiManager LX100 will
determine which table contains the highest matching dial string, the gateway with which
that table is associated, and then determine which gateway to use for the call. If two or
more tables contain matching dial strings, then Polycom ReadiManager LX100 will
compares the cost associated with that dial string.
Cost. The Cost column in the LCR table lets you assign a relative cost in relation to the
other entries in the table. Lower cost numbers indicate that using that dialing sequence
has lower cost associated with it; higher cost numbers indicate using that dialing
sequence is more costly.
