Dust Detection – Method

! To detect dust on the ADF
exposure glass, the ADF
feed belt turns and the
CCD scans this belt.
" No paper is present.
The CCD scans the belt.
! The ADF feed belt has
four grooves cut across it
in the main scan direction.
! These grooves are not
easily contaminated with
dust. Because of this, they
are used as reference
points during dust
detection.
