Preventive Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance
The following table lists the preventive maintenance procedures to keep the analyzer operating at peak
performance. Instructions for each procedure follow the table. Micromeritics also recommends that
preventive maintenance procedures and calibration be performed by a Micromeritics Service Repre-
sentative every 12 months.
Maintenance Required
Check and clean Dewar
Replace port filters and O-rings
Replace sample tube O-ring
Inspect and change vacuum pump fluid*
Replace alumina in oil vapor traps*
Clean the outside of the analyzer
Test analyzer for leaks
Replace vacuum pump exhaust filter
Replace diaphragm in vacuum pump (if an oil-free 
pump is used)**
* Oil-sealed vacuum pumps only.
** For oil-free pumps only: After 12 to 18 months of operation, the diaphragm in the pump will wear
out and the pump becomes completely inoperable. To prevent instrument downtime due to an
inoperable pump, it is recommend that the diaphragm be replaced by a Micromeritics Service Rep-
resentative every 12 months.

Recovering from a Power Failure

The analyzer saves entered and collected data in case of power failure. File parameters and any other
data entered will still be present when power is restored. If an analysis was in progress when the power
failure occurred, it will be canceled when the analyzer restarts. Any data collected during the analysis
will still be present, but the analysis should be started again in order to produce complete results.
