b. Tap any location along the depth scale and the depth control will automatically
move to the new position—once the depth is moved, the value will update
2 As you adjust the depth, the depth value also appears in the lower left corner of the
clinical display.
Note:
The depth value in the lower left corner of the clinical display is always the
total acquired depth of the non zoomed image. When you zoom, this value stays the
same.
Gain and TGC controls
Gain refers to amplifying the intensity of the returning sound waves on the screen
display. Increasing the gain brightens the image. Decreasing the gain darkens the
image. Use the gain control to adjust the visual intensity of the signal.
As you adjust the master gain control the Time Gain Compensation (TGC) controls
are displayed. During image acquisition in any 2D-based imaging mode, each slider
adjusts the ultrasound signal to compensate for minor attenuation as it returns through
deeper situated tissue.
Each slider adjusts the return signal across a specific depth band. The top slider
adjusts the return signal across the area closest to the transducer face. The bottom
slider adjusts the return signal across the area furthest from the transducer face.
Slide the control to the right to boost the signal and brighten the image data in that
horizontal band, and left to attenuate the signal and darken that band.
The current value is displayed above the control as you adjust it.
A TGC button is also available on the imaging controls bar on the right of the control
panel. Tap the TGC button to enable the TGC sliders. The TGC sliders will remain on
the control panel until they are changed or if you tap anywhere else on the control
panel.
