Gel
Use acoustic coupling gel on the transducer during exams. Although most gels
provide suitable acoustic coupling, some gels are incompatible with some transducer
materials.
For general use, apply a liberal amount of gel between the transducer and the body.
For interventional use, apply a transducer sheath.
WARNING:
Some gels and sterilants can cause an allergic reaction in some
individuals.
Caution:
To avoid damage to the transducer, use only gels with properties similar to
Aquasonic® 100 Ultrasound Transmission Gel for use with the Vevo MD Imaging
System. Using other gels can damage the transducer and void the warranty. If you
have questions about gel compatibility, contact FUJIFILM SonoSite or your local
representative.
Sheaths
WARNING:
When performing a vascular line placement or peripheral nerve
block procedure, FUJIFILM SonoSite recommends using a single-use
sterile gel and a single-use sterile transducer sheath to prevent
contamination.
Some transducer sheaths contain natural rubber latex and talc, which can
cause allergic reactions in some individuals. FUJIFILM SonoSite
recommends that you identify your latex and talc-sensitive patients and be
prepared to treat allergic reactions promptly.
