9.1 Upgrading software releases
● Carry out a POWER ON. The new software is now active.
If a memory card is already in the SINAMICS DCP, the mechanism described in Chapter
Memory card functions (Page 113), Section "Copying parameter data sets from non-
volatile memory to the memory card" takes effect.
During the first power up
● Connected TM modules perform a SW update. A POWER OFF / POWER ON of these
components is required after the software update. The memory card no longer needs to
be inserted for this step.
Note
Electronic power supply must not be interrupted during the update, otherwise the update will
need to be restarted.

To safely remove the memory card, see Chapter Memory card functions (Page 113)

Update the STARTER project

Install the SSP that matches the new SW version (e.g. SSP SINAMICS DCP V1.1).
SSPs for different versions of the same SINAMICS DCP can be simultaneously installed in
STARTER.
Open the existing STARTER project (that refers to an old device version). Right-click the
device in the project navigator and select "Target device" → "Device version...". Select the
new device version and confirm with "Change version". The project is converted to the new
device version.
Note
STARTER does not support a "downgrade" of the software version (e.g. V1.2 to V1.1).

Download to target system, RAM to ROM

Load the project to the SINAMICS DCP (download to target system) and permanently save
the parameter assignment.
