MPP Tracker

See function diagram 6700 in the SINAMICS DCP List Manual.
General information
An MPP Tracker is required for the application
"A SINAMICS DCP removes energy from a PV array and feeds this energy into a DC link".
An MPP Tracker (Maximum Power Point Tracker) is a slow servo controller, which
continuously searches for the operating point at which the largest possible power is removed
from the solar panel. This operating point is called MPP.
Principle of operation
The following hardware topology is required:
Image 8-71
The PV array generates electrical energy. The SINAMICS DCP feeds this energy into a DC
voltage DC link circuit. This energy is fed from an inverter into the supply system.
The voltage of the PV array adjusts itself according to the solar radiation and current drain.
The voltage of the DC link is specified by the inverter.
The SINAMICS DCP is capable of generating a defined current flow between these two
voltage levels, irrespective of the actual voltage values and on which side the voltage is
higher or lower.
The characteristic curve of a PV array (voltage against current, power against current)
principally looks like this:
