Description

Description
You can use the STARTER commissioning tool to configure and commission the SINAMICS
drives or drive systems as well as the SINAMICS DCP. The drive configuration can be
performed with the aid of the STARTER wizard for drive configuration.
Note
In this chapter, "drive", "drive unit" or "drive system" always refers to the SINAMICS DCP.
Note
This chapter describes how to commission with STARTER. STARTER has a comprehensive
online help that explains in detail all of the sequences and setting options in the system. This
is the reason why this chapter is restricted to the individual commissioning steps.
Prerequisites for installing STARTER
STARTER is installed on a PG/PC. The hardware and software preconditions are described
in the readme file for STARTER. This file can be called from the starting page of the
SINAMICS DCP documentation on DVD.
Note
The SIMOTION SCOUT engineering tool includes the STARTER functionality to commission
drives.
As of version V4.2, SCOUT has also been released for commissioning the SINAMICS DCP.

Installing the STARTER commissioning tool

STARTER is installed using the "setup" file on the CD supplied. When you double-click the
"Setup" file, the installation wizard guides you through the process of installing STARTER.
