6.3 Optical Sensors

To accommodate the increase in the process speed, the machine uses a combination of an
optical sensor [1] and a prism [2] instead of a photo sensor and a sensor flag for some of the
sensors in the pickup/feeding assembly, thus ensuring correct detection of paper. (For the
position of the sensors, see F02-604-01.)

6.4 Image Write Start Sensor

The image write start sensor is used to support the increased speed of operation. It detects
the leading edge of paper before it reaches the registration roller, preparing the printer for
printing operation. The presence of this sensor enables the shortest possible sheet-to-sheet
distance. (For the position for the sensor, see F02-604-01.)
