8.1

Repairing brake lines

Using the brake line flaring tool - VAS 6056- , the brake lines can
be crimped with a pipe outside diameter of 5 mm, without dam‐
aging the coating. So that in certain cases parts of the brake lines
can be replaced cheaply.
Note
Brake lines must only be bent max. 90°, otherwise they kink
or present deformations, which constrain the line cross-sec‐
tion in an unauthorized manner.
Preferably separate brake lines at underbody.
The positions of the intermediate pieces must be selected so
that they cannot chafe on moving parts.
Do not grease spindle and only clean with methylated spirits.
Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Brake line flaring tool - VAS 6056-
♦ Brake filling and bleeding device , e. g. -VAS 5234-
