To run the chkdsk utility from Windows

1. Click Start → Programs → Accessories → Command Prompt.
2. At the Command prompt, type chkdsk <drive letter:> (for example, chkdsk c:).
3. Press Enter.
4. Type Exit to exit the Command Prompt window and return to Windows.
