Defining the Maximum Densities for a New Paper

In the screen Print PBL maximum densities for
the three color channels can be entered for the
selected paper configuration. The entered values
are used to determine the laser point. And with the
laser point the light intensity of the laser on the
paper is adjusted.
Thereby the following facts should be considered:
- The working point is only determined by means
of a PBL with laser point. In case of a PBL
without laser point the settings for the densities
have no effect.
- The maximum densities of the three colors are
not completely independent of each other. If the
maximum density of one color is changed this
also has an effect on the maximum densities of
the other colors.
- The specified densities refer to measuring
results with the internal densitometer.
If the calibration is made for a paper with
maximum densities which do not correspond to
the default settings, an external densitometer
must be used for measuring the test print. The
densitometer in use must be suitable for
measuring status densities A (e.g. X-Rite
Densitometer). For design reasons the
densitometer integrated in the machine is not
suitable for this purpose. Therefore the required
nominal values for the maximum densities
cannot be entered directly in the screen Print
PBL. To determine the values to be entered
proceed according to the description on the
following page.
For external measuring of the test strip always
the same densitometer must be used.
