Operation
Procedure for paper calibration
with new defined maximum densities
1. Define the nominal values (S) for the maximum
densities of the three colors. Thereby consider
the restrictions mentioned below.
2. Enter the nominal values (S) as aims (Z) in the
screen Print PBL and use these values to
make a PBL.
3. Use an external densitometer and measure the
field with the highest density (on the right) on
the last print of the PBL (quality level: status
density A) and then note the measuring values
(I).
4. Subtract the measured maximum densities (I)
of the three colors from their nominal values
(S). (Ddiff = S – I).
5. Add the difference (Ddiff) of step 4. to the aim
values (Z) and enter them as the new aim
values (Znew) in the window Print PBL.
Consider the prefix!
(Znew = Z + Ddiff)
6. Print a PBL with the new aim values (Znew) for
the selected paper.
7. Repeat steps 3. to 6. until the maximum
densities measured on the paper correspond to
the nominal values (I = S). By experience we
know this may take a few cycles.
Due to the different measuring characteristics of
the densitometers (internal / external) the values
entered in the screen Print PBL will not
correspond to the values measured externally.
