Operation

Tests

Basically, the tests are distinguished as follows:
1. Tests which the operator can perform because
they have to be carried out before or during the
production, e.g. PBL when paper with a new
emulsion number is inserted.
2. Tests called up with the service functions. The
Service button is only active if a user with the
respective rights has logged in.

Printer Tests: PBL, MBL

Prior to production start the machine must be
calibrated.
Only if Printer and Paper Processor are perfectly
calibrated good prints will come out.
The purpose of the Printer calibration is to adapt
the individual components of the system – print
engine, paper and Paper Processor with respect
to each other. The result of successful calibration
is the neutral appearance of the grayscale on the
last printed test print.
We differentiate two types of test prints. They are
printed from digital test images.
− The PBL test (Paper balance) compensates for
the differences of the various paper types and
widths, and provides for uniform rendering of
the colors on all paper emulsions in use.
− The MBL test (Master balance) compensates
for slight fluctuations of the chemical solutions.
