43. In the Instrument Setup dialog box, select Magnet.
44. In the Tune window's Control 1 tab, confirm that the Magnet Mass
readback is >1 for values of Magnet Mass >1.
45. Turn the status switch to the Operate position.
The instrument is now ready for use.

Shutting down the instrument

Use this procedure if the instrument is to be shut down for any extended
period.
To shut down the instrument
1.
Close the analyzer isolation valve.
2.
If the instrument is in Operate mode, in the MassLynx Tune window,
click Press for Standby and confirm that the adjacent instrument status
indicator shows red.
3.
Turn the status switch to the Standby position.
4.
On the Tune window's Vacuum tab, clear Source and Analyser 1 (or, if
appropriate, Analyser 2).
5.
Click Vacuum > Control.
6.
Clear Source and Analyser.
7.
Switch off the GC and allow it to cool.
8.
On the Inlets tab, set the parameters to 0 and allow the GC interface to
cool.
9.
Close all the isolation valves.
10. If applicable, when all the fine (diffusion) pumps have cooled, close the
Speedivalves on the pumps.
Tip: The fine pumps have cooled when the Vacuum Control dialog box
readbacks display "Cold – off".
11. Close MassLynx software.
12. Power-off the EPC.
