No peaks in the Tune window (no ion beam) (Continued)
Possible cause
The instrument is not in Operate
mode.
Communication failure.
No sample is present.
The analyzer isolation valve is
closed.
Magnet is off. (Inspect the Tune
window Control 1 page Field Setting
pane Magnet Mass readback.)
Damaged source filament or poor
contact to the filament from the
spring contacts on the outer source.

Corrective action
In the MassLynx Tune window, click
Press for Operate.
When in Operate mode, the
Tip:
adjacent icon is green.
Ascertain the status of the
embedded PC. If necessary, reboot
the embedded PC using the
embedded PC's power switch.

Ensure that you loaded the sample
correctly in the autosampler or
probe.
In the MassLynx Tune window on
the Vacuum tab, select Analyser.
In the Instrument Setup dialog box,
select Magnet.
Ensure that the Magnet MCBs are
switched on.

Remove the inner source and test
the continuity of the filament with a
digital voltmeter (the resistance
must be approximately 0.2 ohm).
Replace the filament if it is
damaged. If the filament is intact,
use tweezers to adjust the spring
contacts on the outer source to
improve contact.
