Carefully remove the ion gauge directly away from the flange.

Ensure that the optical shield is still seated correctly inside the ion
gauge extension flange; if not, remove the extension flange and re-seat
the optical shield.
To fit the new ion gauge
For correct operation, ensure that the ion gauge filament is

not touching the inside of the analyzer housing and is at the bottom of
the cage when fitting the ion gauge.
1.
Fit the new ion gauge to the flange.
2.
Fit the vacuum clamp to the flange.
3.
Connect the electrical plug to the ion gauge.
To prepare the instrument for operation
1.
Power-on the analyzer fore pump, using the switch on the pump.
2.
If applicable, open the Speedivalve on the analyzer fore pump.
3.
Wait for the MassLynx Vacuum Monitor window's Pirani Analyser
reading to reach a value less than its trip level.
4.
In the MassLynx Tune window, click Vacuum > Control.
5.
In the Vacuum Control dialog box, select Analyser. The status message
displays Heating.
6.
Wait for the status message to display Operational, about 1 hour.
7.
In the MassLynx Tune window, click Vacuum > Bake.
8.
In the Baking dialog box, set Bake for...hours to 2.0.
9.
Click Baking on.
Tip: Baking must be performed for at least 2 hours, preferably for a
longer period, for example, overnight.
10. After baking, allow the flight tube to cool down for at least 30 minutes.
11. On the Vacuum tab, select Analyser 1 or Analyser 2, as appropriate. The
status message displays Operational.
