Insufficient vacuum (Continued)
Possible cause
If applicable, rotary pump not
operating correctly.
Scroll pump not operating correctly.
Leak in a vacuum backing line.
Restriction in the vacuum pump
exhaust tubing.
Turbomolecular or diffusion pump
not operating correctly.
Source heater not working :
Possible cause
The source heater has failed.
Corrective action
Gas-ballast the rotary pumps.
Inspect the rotary pump oil. If the oil
is dirty, flush the pump with clean
oil, and then refill the pump with
new oil.

or vacuum leaks.

restrictions.
