H. FERRITE BEADS
8.22 To help reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference
(RFI), it may be necessary to equip the RS232 cables with ferrite beads. (See INSTALLA-
TION,

POWER FAILURE TRANSFER CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS
8.23 To connect power failure trans-
fer (PFT) relay equipment to the relay
jack (six-conductor modular jack) on
the CPU card or CPC (see
one end of the cable between the two
must have a 6-pin modular plug con-
nector. The other end of the cable must
be compatible with the PFT equip-
ment. Consult the owner's guide for the
equipment to verify that the pin func-
tions are the same as those shown in
the chart at the right. If necessary,
rewire the connector on the device to
match the requirements.
8.24 During normal system operation, both relays are energized. When power is removed,
connection is made between the common and normally closed contacts. On the CPU020/PCM
card, R1C is wired in parallel to R2C, R1NC is wired in parallel to R2NC, and R1NO is wired
in parallel to R2NO.
J.
NIGHT TRANSFER CONNECTION REQUIREMENTS
8.25 To connect night transfer relay equipment to the relay jack (six-conductor modular jack
or line jack unit) on the Options Card (see
must have a 6-pin modular plug connector. The other end of the cable must be compatible with
the night transfer equipment. Consult the owner's guide for the equipment to verify that the pin
functions are the same as those shown in the chart above. If necessary, rewire the connector on
the device to match the requirements.
8.26 The output devices, whether used for SMDR or error messages, must be able to print
reports with a width of 80 characters. The devices must not have cables longer than 50 feet (15
meters).
