10. VOICE PROCESSING UNIT NETWORK CAPACITIES
NOTE:
10.1 A Voice Processing Unit or Enterprise Messaging (EM) unit can be installed on any or
all nodes in the phone network. These Voice Processing systems can also be networked
together to allow a caller to leave a message on the local Voice Processing system for a mail-
box located on another Voice Processing system in the network.
10.2 The maximum capacities of the network are listed in the following table.
Table 1-6.
Voice Processing Unit Network Capacities
Voice Processing Units per network

Message Notification/Retrieval Applications per node
System Passwords per node
Time Slot Groups per node
a. This is the maximum number of nodes supported by the software. System traffic may limit the ac-
tual number of nodes that can be supported without affecting system performance.
b. Available ports are determined by a software license.
c. Applications include Call Routing Announcements, STAR applications, Record-A-Call, etc.
d. The number of programmed custom recordings is limited only by the size of the local hard disk.
10.3 Each Voice Processing system has its own internal message queue (similar to a mail-
box's message queues) and stores messages destined for other Voice Processing systems until
they are delivered.
NOTE:
license is required to use Voice Processing Nodes.
10.4 The Voice Processing Node programming area is used to identify and define informa-
tion about each node (unit) in the Voice Processing network. Before the local Voice Processing
Unit can deliver messages to another Voice Processing node in the network, the remote node
must be included in the local table.
