When to Replace
Replace the pivot base assembly when directed
to do so by a Segway Service Representative.
The pivot base assembly components are not
field serviceable. If you determine that the pivot
base assembly is either defective or damaged,
the entire pivot base assembly must be replaced
as a unit.
To remove pivot base assembly:
1. Make sure Segway PT is powered off and
unplugged.
2. Establish a serviceable power base
(page 7‐1).
3. Remove console cover and set aside
(page 9‐4).
4. Remove UIC and set aside (page 9‐9).
5. Remove EMI filter and set aside (page 9‐12).
6. Use T‐30 6‐lobe wrench to remove (2) screws
that anchor base plate to chassis (see
Figure 9‐16).
7. Carefully remove large ferrite core from CU
harness and small ferrite cores from BSA
harnesses.
9‐14
Do not damage ferrites because they must be
reinstalled. If no ferrite cores are present, see in
step 8
on page 9-15. Damaged ferrites must be
replaced.
8. Lift pivot base straight up, feeding harnesses
through holes. Viewing from the rear of the
chassis, the harness connections should be
as follows:
• Left side: 10‐pin harness and a smaller
harness with purple wires.
• Right side: 12‐pin harness and a
smaller harness with orange wires.
See Figure 9‐17.

good condition.
11. Remove pivot base assembly.
